Poorna Pushkala Sameddha Ayyanar temple in Arivelur Village is the family deity and Kula Devatha for many families in Arivelur and its neighboring villages .
This temple is situated in Arivelur Village near Elanthangudi in Mayiladuthurai , Nagapattinam District in Tamil Nadu state. The village is approximately 3 miles from Mayiladuthurai. The temple was built about 300 years back .It is said that in this very location MahaVishnu offered prayers to Lord Shiva. The village was then known as Harivasanallur .This temple was consecrated about 15 years back along with some other temples in the vicinity by the local village community.
In view of the age of the construction and negligence the roofs have given way and the walls have broken . There is an immediate necessity to renovate the temple and restore its sanctity.
The tentative estimates for the project comprising of civil works and electrical works is about Rs 8 lacs . Additionally there is a need to build a compound wall .There are expenses needed for electricity and water connections. A corpus is to be created to meet the expenses for the daily puja in the temple.
In consultation with the Sthapati and the civil engineer ,the construction work has started with the initial contributions made by a few families. There is an urgent requirement of about Rs 4 lacs to complete the construction.
The Kumbha Abhishekam is scheduled to be held on March,15th09 before the commencement of the Virodhi Varsha. As per our shastras no Kumbha Abhishekam can be conducted during the Virodi Varsha. Hence the construction must be completed by end February 09.
We are trying to pool in resources from all astikas and devotees of Dharma Shashta . We sincerely appeal for contributions for the completion and sustenance of this project.
